What is ATEX Certification?
ATEX Certification is awarded to equipment intended to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres after undergoing rigorous testing outlined in the ATEX directives, ensuring that it operates safely for its intended use in the European Union. Products that comply with the ATEX certification directives have been proven safe for use in environments with explosive atmospheres, specific to the zone(s) for which they are certified.

ATEX Directives
There are two ATEX Directives, one for the user of the equipment and one for the manufacturer:
ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU (Equipment) – Equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Why is ATEX certification important?
If you manufacture products for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and intend to sell them in Europe, you must ensure that your equipment will not cause an explosion during routine operation and that it complies with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

Why Choose Us...

Equipment, components or protective systems used in potentially explosive atmospheres require testing and certification of these products in order to be placed on the market and used in European markets.

As a European Notified Body at A.C.&E. Iberia we test, evaluate and certify equipment, components or protection systems used in potentially explosive atmospheres according to the requirements of the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

Ex marking standards and requirements
To comply with the requirements of the ATEX Directive, products must bear the distinctive Community mark (“Ex” inside a hexagon) and the CE marking before being sold in the EU. A.C.&E. Iberia can test and certify your products to obtain the ‘Ex’ and CE marks for the IEC/EN 60079 and ISO/IEC/EN 80079 series of standards for explosive atmospheres standards.

Unit Verification
A Unit Verification can help you to cost-effectively bring customised equipment intended for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere to the European market.

Quality audits
The ATEX Directive has a unique quality assurance process and procedure, in accordance with ISO/IEC/EN 80079-34, which must be complied with in order to meet its requirements. A Notified Body assessment is required for Zone 0 and 1 (Ga and Gb) equipment consisting of an EU Type Certificate consisting of a test report and Quality Audit (QAN). A.C.&E. Iberia can carry out audits at your premises and support you throughout this process.
